We recently found out that Secretariat's Son, 34 year old Maritime Traveler was enjoying his retirement at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala. We called the office and made arrangements to visit the farm and meet Maritime Traveler. When we arrived we were greeted by Christine. She took us on a tour of the farm. Bridlewood Farm is absolutely gorgeous. We saw a group of very friendly pregnant mares enjoying the beautiful day, hanging out in a huge field of green grass. We saw another group of mares with their young foals right beside them. Christine introduced us to the stallions, they were gorgeous!!
Then we met Maritime Traveler. What an honor! I heard that he liked baby carrots so of course I brought a bag, hoping I might be able to offer him just one. Christine says he'll eat the whole bag, and he did. Maritime Traveler is part of history and my husband & I are so grateful we were fortunate enough to meet him.
Christine gave us an incredible tour of this beautiful farm. She was extremely knowledgeable about the farm and was always asking if we had questions.
We thank you so much

I was pleased to show my husband one of the famous Ocala horse farms as we were on our way back from south fl to north florida so we stopped in to see if we could do a self guided tour as site had advertised, since i lived here years ago and am priud of the history of this horse country.
The horses and grounds were beautiful and we respected the rules of staying in the car as we took pictures, as the nice lady in the office said we could.
The woman up front said it was free to the public, not to get out of the vehicle, take as many pics ans would like and to turn around at the third metal shed, which we did.
Accidentally, we went the wrong way and were trying to turn around to correct our mistake when a woman in a suv blocked our way.
We waited for her to move but oddly she did not until, after about four or five minutes when we were turning our car to see if we could pass her on the one way road
She rudely yelled at us telling us we were not supposed to be there. We apologized and she finally let us pass.
Never did we want to disrespect anyone (especially the horses) but wow. Is she ok?
Thank you to the owners and the lady upfront and all whom made it possible for allowing us to visit.
The place is beautiful. Just beware of the lady in the suv.

We are down here on vacation and we read online that the farm allowed self guided tours. When we got here, we checked in at the office first. The girl at the front desk was very friendly, gave us directions and told us to stay on the road, off the grass and stay in our car. She didn’t say anything about the time that it closed or which road were off limits.

About a half hour later, we had been following the rules given to us and some lady in a red SUV drove up to our car and super rudely told us that the barn was closed and we needed to leave. She also told us that the road we were on was not part of the self guided tour, although we were not told any road was off limits and there were no signs to indicate that. This all would have been just fine if she was respectful or spoke to us decently but she was extremely mean about it. After that she TAILED us all the way to the exit to make sure we left. We had a great experience and were very impressed until she completely ruined our experience and our view of the farm. I’m not sure who she was but she was an employee of some sort. She unnecessarily turned a good experience into a humiliating drive out of the farm. Because of the way this employee treated us, will not be back or recommend visiting to anyone we know.

My husband actually works at Bridlewood Farm. It's a beautiful place with some lovely and expensive horses!! Lots of horses train on the huge training track...also lots of mares foaling this time of year. It's amazing to watch when I get the chance and my husband loves doing it even after 45 years!!
