I used Emily for my hair and makeup for my wedding, and for bridesmaids hair and Dea for bridesmaids makeup. They were amazing and everyone loved their hair and makeup! They were right on time and stayed on or ahead of their schedule the morning of my wedding! Emily made sure my hair would stay put the whole day after the curls fell out during the trial. I would definitely recommend doing a trial with them first to make sure everything looks how you want, and be realistic about how many people may be part of your service. We had a little miscommunication about how many people we needed hair and makeup for and they ended up not having the availability (but tried to help fix the issue as well as they could). I had to get someone else to supplement on the day of, so def be clear and talk to your bridal party to get numbers figured out as early as possible! But overall astounded by how beautiful everyone was on my wedding day!

Beauty Marked has glammed me for two separate occasions and I cannot rave about them enough. The attention to detail each artist puts into their talent is extraordinary. What truly sets Beauty Marked apart from other MUAs in the area is their diversity when working with women of different cultural backgrounds. I personally have struggled with finding artists that can work with my South Asia features, Beauty Marked has invested time into using techniques that flatter each individual and their unique features. As someone who is very picky about makeup application, I know that all of the artists with Beauty Marked will give me the experience and look that I request every time. I cannot wait to work with them again.

I got married in February 2024 in a double wedding with my sister, and the experience was quite challenging. I was initially uncertain about the pricing due to a required minimum, and I requested a discount for one of the two events before booking. The owner accommodated this request, for which I am grateful.

However, after signing the contract, I discovered a discrepancy. I was told I would receive one lead stylist, which confused me because I had been informed earlier that the typical service included one hair stylist and one makeup artist. This change was apparently due to the discounted rate on one of the events. Given the nature of our hair and the tight turnaround for Indian wedding events, having two artists was crucial. I was informed that I would get a lead stylist and an assistant, but by then, it was too late to cancel.

Fortunately, I had a trial hair and makeup session scheduled, which was supposed to last two hours. This session went over the allotted time, and the lead stylist was unable to finish my hair. Consequently, I had to book another trial just for my hair and was promised a second hair artist. At this second trial, the session ran over an hour, and I couldn’t stay longer. Although the stylist didn’t achieve exactly what I wanted within that time, we discussed my preferences in detail, exchanged numbers, and I sent her numerous photos and videos of the exact updo bun I desired.

On my wedding day, I was overwhelmed by the early start and the long day ahead. While I loved my makeup by Mariana B., who was incredibly accommodating and made me feel beautiful, my hairstylist made some unsettling comments. She informed me last minute that she couldn't do the bun from the photos because my hair was longer and thicker. This was disappointing, considering I had paid for a trial, communicated my desires, and shared photos and videos in advance.

When it was time to put the dupatta in my hair, I asked if she could secure it with clips, offering to do it myself if there was an extra charge. Her response was unclear, suggesting she charged for it personally, which was odd since I booked through Beauty Mark and she worked for them.

For the turnaround from the wedding to the reception, we had two hours with a 30-minute buffer. Although I was on time, removing my makeup took about 15 minutes. I had requested Hollywood waves, but the stylist said she didn’t have time to do them. Her communication throughout the day was disappointing. Although she gave my hair volume and pretty curls, they were not the waves I wanted.

This place was recommended by a previous wedding I attended, but I wish I had shopped around more and had clearer discussions. Also, having a trial before paying in full with a contract would have been beneficial.

I had high expectations for the Beauty Marked team, but the experience was a letdown, despite the makeup and hair artist doing an amazing job on the day of my wedding. The real issue was with the owner and how she handled communication.

First, there was a mix-up with my trial appointment. The admin gave me a different time than what was actually scheduled, leading to a rushed, shortened experience. They even made it seem like I was late, despite the fact that I had been given the wrong time.

On the day of my wedding, the artist arrived almost 30 minutes late, causing delays that added unnecessary stress. I was charged extra for the artist to come early, but they didn’t arrive at the confirmed time, despite another admin specifically verifying the arrival time. Additionally, despite our previous discussions on the initial call, the artist did not assist with my veil as promised, leaving me to manage it myself on an already delayed schedule. After spending almost $1,000 with the company, I was only reimbursed $25 for the inconvenience of not having my veil set.

What made matters worse was the owner’s poor communication. After I raised my concerns, she stopped replying to my messages entirely. This lack of responsiveness made it clear that she doesn’t truly care about her customers.

The constant feeling of being nickeled and dimed for every little thing—and then not committing to those things you’re being charged for—combined with the poor customer service, made for an experience that was far from ideal. While the makeup and hair turned out well, the overall lack of professionalism and care from the owner means I wouldn’t recommend Beauty Marked to another South Asian bride.
