I had a great experience with Melanie during a makeup tutorial session. I was turning 40 this year and wanted some advice for how to apply makeup properly (I've been just winging it for years), and what products and colours are good for me. And I wanted to hear it from someone not trying to sell me an individual brand of products. The session with Melanie achieved all this - she planned it in advance so she already knew what colours would be good for me, she showed me brush techniques that are probably fairly basic for her but were life-changing for me! She took time to get to know me and explain everything, and encouraged me to take notes so I'll remember it and practice at home. I've already road-tested my new skills on a night out and I felt great about myself. I got just what I wanted out of the session - a patient and thoughtful teacher who tailored the session to me, so I can enter this new phase of life feeling armed with more skills to feel beautiful every day.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Melanie is a genuinely wonderful person who made me feel so relaxed and I ended the lesson feeling a million dollars!! The recommendations and the processes she showed me where exceptional and made me realise that taking the correct steps and using the correct products makes all the difference. Getting the basics right stands you in good stead for any type of makeup be it a quick makeup for work or going out out!!! I was looking for a local make up artist for a couple of reasons. Firstly I wanted to update my makeup techniques and check I was using the right colours, brushes etc. Secondly I wanted the ability to do a decent night makeup for occasions which weren’t local, instead of hunting high and low for a MUA every time I had an event.

Melanie was great from the start. There was no rushing at the appointment and she explained everything step by step.

Effectively, she did one half of my face, whilst I copied on the other side.

She listened to what I wanted, and didn’t want. She talked me through correct brush use and application.

I actually went out feeling much more confident on doing my own for big events. It will take a bit of practice - and trying to decipher my own notes! But I feel that this has been a great use of an afternoon. I’ve already added a few items to my collection which Melanie was using on me.

I would definitely use Melanie if I was at an event locally, but at least I now know what I’m doing if it’s further away.

A make up masterclass should be top of everyone's wish list! Melanie is such a lovely lady and makes you feel at ease, she wants you to be the best version of you and takes you through every stage explaining what the process is and inviting you to have a go all the way through. I was encouraged to take notes and photos as often as I wanted, to help remember the stages and process. I loved how i looked at the end of the class and I feel alot more confident in applying makeup. Thanks Melanie for a lovely few hours in your beautiful studio, you certainly boosted my confidence and it was a lovely treat to myself. I will definitely recommend the master class experience to my friends!

After an internet search for someone fairly local, I chose Mel and had the best afternoon with her for a makeup masterclass.
I've never been confident with makeup, partly because of my hooded eyes, so I would usually only use eyeliner & mascara. However, Mel made me feel totally at ease and explained all the skin prep, and the reason for each product and brush etc used. It was all quite a revelation!! She chose colours to suit me personally, taking into account my age, skin, eye and hair colour and I was delighted with the result. Very natural and quite subtle which is exactly what I was after.
I couldn't recommend a session with Mel enough. She is very knowledgeable & experienced in what she does. She works in her lovely, purpose-built home studio, she's very friendly, encouraged me to write notes about each stage and product etc, (which I realise was essential!), and gave loads of product advice. A makeup lesson was something I had been thinking about for years, just wish I had found Mel sooner!

Omg wow wow and wow ! Had a make up lesson from Mel started with back to basics prepping of skin and then one step at a time worked my way from a day time to night time look. I had loads of products in my bag , half of it I didn’t know what they were for , but Mel had patience with me and guided me thru step by step and kept telling me to take notes so I could refer back to which was such a good idea as I learnt loads of little tips off her, well worth the money , I had such fun while learning , and couldn’t stop looking in the mirror as the look was amazing!
