Ordered 14 cases of veneer stone tile for a job off the Menards app and sent to west Wichita. When they came in the tiles were all dropped and broken. They reordered and I picked them up. I ordered a couple extra as we always do when tiling. Tried to return the extras and the manager wanted to charge me 25% restock fee. I couldn’t find that policy online/app. This item was in the store displayed but it wasn’t a stocked item. The manager said all special orders are subject to this restock fee. I finally did see it posted at the returns desk but nowhere else did I see this. After questioning the manager he offered to lower the percentage and I declined because I felt that since they broke my tiles on the original order and made me a week late on the job they’d have some sympathy and waive that fee.

Come to find out it’s corporate policy that it’s each store discretion on that return policy which effectively gives the manager power to decide what can be returned and what fee to charge. Not happy and will definitely be doing business elsewhere.

Great place and the employees are very friendly and helpful. If you have never been to a Menards, you are missing out. Where else can you go to get hardware, paint, plumbing, building materials, soap, pet supplies, clothing, automotive,cleaning supplies, tools, and don’t forget the milk.
Look forward to going here every time we are in Wichita.

Great home improvement store if you are out in the far Northwest corner of Wichita, at Maize and 37th North. Huge place with plenty of variety and fair prices. Personally, I’m not a fan of the mail-in rebate system here which is a huge part of their ad items, but there are good sales to be found that don’t require mailing anything. This location is much more accessible than the East side spot, and has a variety of other great shopping centers south of the store which can make the trip worthwhile. I’ve found good home supplies and lumber here, as well as fairly priced pet supplies and outdoor needs. Halloween yard decor is out now too which is awesome to see. I can recommend the west Mernards.

LOVE this store! Amazing inventory at good prices. Only bad experience was the young male associate in flooring who kept dropping the F-bomb loudly although I was only a feet feet away. Needs to be re-trained in professionalism. Just plain bad manners!

One of my favorite hardware stores. They have just about anything anyone could ever need for home improvement. They also have some grocery items as well. This is my first stop anytime I need to get anything for my home. They also rent tools if you need to do some heavy duty work. Definitely would recommend this over Lowe’s or Home Depot.

Bought a brand new mower from Menard's last summer and have never been able to use it. Buyer beware: you cannot return any gas powered item that has ever had gas in it unless the item is deemed unrepairable by a certified service center. If the issue is not operator error but is also not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, they will also refuse to exhange, refund, or replace. Our "manufacturer's warranty" did not include the fuel system, evidently, which seems prretty crucial. (Shame on us for being trusting and not reading the fine print too I suppose). You can read the mower manual front to back and do everything right and still be out the money with a lemon. Don't buy a lemon mower from Menard's. Manufacturers evidently don't want to help, either. The managers at this store are polite but basically tell you the manufacturer does not want to do anything for you and that it is also not their responsibility as a store to make it right because they "buy the mowers from third party vendors." Ridiculous. I gave Menard's my money, not the third party vendor! If I could give fewer stars, I would!
Edit/update from 9/9/24: after Menard's responded to this review asking me to email them, I did honor that request, and received a response from the GM: it was just a copy/paste of the gas powered item return policy and a reiteration that they will not make it right. I have attached screenshots of my email to them as well as the response I sent when I was once again told that Menard's did not wish to compensate me. There is a scary confidentiality notice attached to the GM's response to me, so I did not include screenshots of it.

I’ve never felt such a lack of respect as I did today. After completing my purchase with money I’ve worked hard for, I was taken aback when an employee stopped me to inspect the contents of my purse. Not sure what about me would give off such a negative vibe. Maybe it’s the tattoos, maybe it’s the nervous twitch brought on by severe social anxiety, diagnosed by a medical professional. Who knows.

Anyway…

Upon my refusal, they inquired about the whereabouts of the trash can I had earlier, implying it might be in my purse, which is absurd. My husband then showed them where I had placed it, as I had changed my mind about purchasing it. I disclosed my social anxiety and PMDD during this exchange, only to be met with laughter from the employee.

NO, I WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT LET YOU LOOK IN MY PURSE!! And you want to know why?

I have rights and legally, only a law enforcement officer with a search warrant can detain me. Therefore, I’m not obligated to comply with your request—end of discussion. It’s disheartening that I was merely contributing to the economy and your salary by spending my money at your establishment, which clearly doesn’t deserve my patronage anymore. I won’t be returning. I hope you use your time more wisely instead of bothering business owners who are simply trying to buy supplies for their shop’s plumbing. And it’s unacceptable to dismiss someone’s mental health struggles; when a person tells you they have social anxiety and your actions are causing them distress, the kind thing to do is give them space. Unfortunately, this is the second time your store has left us disappointed. I’d prefer to pay more at Lowe’s than experience this again considering no apology was even given to us.

Ordered 2 swing sets from here and which totaled over 5k back in march and the fiasco started out great getting it straightened out and now it has turned into a horror dealing with management. First they had to change one of the sets because they didn't have a part in stock in the area and offered to swap the set with a different t one that was really similar and was like $100 more which seems really nice because they were going to just drop the price to match. The problem is they didn't tell us till the day before delivery. Delivery day turned into a fiasco of them trying to figure out what they were doing to get it delivered and they ended up rush loading it on a truck in the afternoon and told us if anything was missed they would fix it because as they said we were so willing to work with them. As time went on started noticing parts were missing as building which was impossible to tell on delivery date because they were all bundled up on a pallet. First bunch of stuff that was missing from the first set that was built they were great with to get it fixed. As moved over to the second set getting it built started noticing parts were missing on it. With this set everything was in a boxes and hard to tell if anything was missing. Here we are going into the 5th week of trying to get this fixed and 6 managers saying they will get it fixed we basically got told by 6th manager that email was sent a month ago to the company no response and they have done nothing when we have been calling checking on status every week so we can look out for delivery and make sure present for delivery and basically told they will get to it when they get to it
